Photoshop CS5 Up to Speed
10:00 – 11:00 am
See what’s changed, what’s new, and how you can get the most out of the new features as quickly as possible. Once you’re up to speed, you can start using the new features immediately, or make an educated decision on whether to upgrade to the new version. Features covered include: Puppet Warping for repositioning elements while maintaining a realistic appearance, Content-Aware Fill to quickly retouch and reposition elements without worrying about filling in the hole left behind, HDR Pro for professional-quality High Dynamic Range imaging without relying on third party plug-ins, Mini Bridge for accessing files without the need to leave Photoshop, improved selection tools for quickly selecting hair and other difficult subjects.
Advanced Camera Raw
11:15 – 12:15 pm
This session will apply equally to Camera Raw within Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom since they share the same adjustment engine. Here you’ll learn that advanced techniques do not have to be difficult and that a few simple ideas can push your images to another level. Techniques include: HSL adjustments that can make grass look more pleasing, negative sharpening, advanced noise reduction techniques, recovering highlight detail without introducing artifacts, utilizing vignetting to keep your viewer focused on the central portion of your images.
LUNCH BREAK
12:15 to 1:15 P.M.
Turbocharged for Speed & Efficiency
1:15 – 2:15 pm
If you’ve ever wanted to fly through Photoshop at a ridiculous speed while hardly ever needing to manually access menu commands or dialog boxes, then this session is for you. You can easily double, triple and in some cases quadruple your efficiency when you harness these ideas: Streamline Photoshop’s interface by removing unused file formats from the save dialog box, optimize keyboard shortcuts for your workflow, the best use for presets, creating actions that work, using action subroutines to affect multiple actions with a single edit, batch processing and multi-image adjustments.
Photo Stylings
2:30 – 3:45 pm
Learn to develop your own style by applying subtle techniques that invoke unique feelings when your images are viewed. This can be used to either stylize a series of images to make them feel like they belong together, or to define your personal photographic style on every image you process. Create a nostalgic look for timeless images, high contrast soft focus effects for fashion images, blur the lines between a photograph and a painting by utilizing unique brush techniques, Clean sepia-toned black and white for a classic landscape look, produce dark, moody images for a dramatic effect.
Finishing Touches
4:00 – 5:00 pm
Just because an image looks good doesn’t mean it’s truly finished. It’s only after you’ve considered how the image will be used (Web, press or print), who it will be sent to and how you want to present it that your work is done. In this session you will learn: The right way to sharpen your images to retain skin texture, how to properly scale your images for internet use, the file formats to avoid when sending files to others, Border and edge treatments that can make an average image look grand, managing layered originals and flattened files for multiple uses.
